OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE

  • Respiratory Care Technology degree course is to provide a competent respiratory Care Technologist who is well versed with modern technologies and up to date knowledge in patient care.A Respiratory Care Technologist, also known as a clinical Respiratory Care Technologist or a cardiovascular Respiratory Care Technologist, is a specialized healthcare professional demonstrate competency in administering respiratory therapy treatments and procedures, including oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, and mechanical ventilation.
  • The Respiratory Care Technologist demonstrate proficiency in the use of respiratory equipment and technology, including ventilators, CPAP/BiPAP machines, and oxygen delivery devices, ensuring proper functioning and troubleshooting as needed.The Respiratory Care Technologist engage in lifelong learning and professional development activities to stay current with advancements in respiratory care technology, regulations, and best practices, and contribute to the advancement of the profession through research and education.
  • The Respiratory Care Technologist demonstrate proficiency in performing diagnostic tests such as arterial blood gas analysis, pulmonary function testing, and pulse oximetry to assess respiratory status.The Respiratory Care Technologist apply principles of patient assessment and airway management to establish and maintain a patent airway, including the ability to perform endotracheal intubation and suctioning as necessary.
  • The Respiratory Care Technologist utilize critical care skills to provide respiratory support to patients in various settings, including emergency departments, intensive care units, and long-term care facilities.The Respiratory Care Technologist collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized respiratory care plans based on patient needs, preferences, and goals.
  • The Respiratory Care Technologist apply critical thinking skills to assess, evaluate, and manage patients with respiratory conditions across the lifespan, incorporating evidence-based practice into clinical decision-making.The Respiratory Care Technologist utilize effective communication skills to interact with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to provide comprehensive respiratory care. The Respiratory Care Technologist implements infection control protocols and adhere to safety standards to minimize the risk of transmission of respiratory infections and ensure a safe environment for patients and healthcare workers.
