Simulation-based medical education

Objectives of the practice:

Simulation-based learning can be the way to develop health professionals knowledge, skills, and attitudes, whilst protecting patients from unnecessary risks.Simulation-based medical education can be a platform which provides a valuable tool in learning to mitigate ethical tensions and resolve practical dilemmas.Simulation-based training techniques, tools, and strategies can be applied in designing structured learning experiences, as well as be used as a measurement tool linked to targeted teamwork competencies and learning objectives.

The context :

The context regarding a simulation center would be a long-term investment in medical education.It can be used for undergraduate training such as in the study of anatomy, physiologjcal functions, familiarization with medical examination techniques or preparing for practical examinations or for competency testing prior to training / patient handling.Challenging issues that needed to be addressed in designing and implementing this practice are convenient location, adequate space for training small groups, equipment setup, technical support from the vendors in the long term

Students were actively get Participated to learn practical aspects of techniques, regions and worked hands on. Students were benefited and gained practical knowledge.

Responsibility towards environment

Objectives of the practice:

  • To develop sense of responsibility towards environment.
  • To create awareness among students and staff about environnental safety and Protection through education.
  • To help the individuals to acquire knowledge of pollution and environmental degradation
  • To promote individuals with an opportunity to be actively involved at all levels in Environmental decision making.

The Context:

School of Allied Health Sciences ,Vinayaka mission Puducherry campus believe it is important for us to be involved in environmental issues therefore we engage and take care of the environment and surroundings. Our ambition is to stimulate each student and staff to increase their knowlcdge about environmental issues and be aware of the environmental aspects and their duties and responsibility towards the environment. In order to spread knowledge about our responsibility towards the environment, we continuously communicate this work both internally and externally. Our efforts are more in the direction to improve our environmental impact by finding more projects to support nature and environment as well. The Practice we encourage our students and teaching staff to do the same and contribute to a green future.

The institution focuses on Promotion of recycling and reuses Practices and sustainable environmental management that entails the principle of the 3 "R": Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. The institute performs an energy study on the types of Contracting. power required, most advantageous tariff and lighting mechanisms, taking into Account the electrical needs of the office. Also the institute takes advantage of nature Lighting and study light needs in the different areas of the office and work places. Encourage our students and staff to turn off lighting in unoccupied spaces, whether in meeting rooms or in empty offices or in offices outside working hours and unused electronic equipment, avoiding the "standby" mode. The institute have implemented saving systems for drinking Water consumption in faucets and toilets, through the installation of timers, diffusers, flow Reducers. Moreover, every year institute has participated in SWACHATA HI SEVA SIDE CAMPUS and More Environmental Initatives creates awareness about environment among Students and staff of the institution.

Evidence of Success:

The initiative entitled "Responsibility towards environment", is implemented in the institution in very efficient manner, as a outcome of the initiative the clectricity consumption is gradually reduces. Due to increasing environmental awareness quotient of students and staff of institution, reduction in use of hard papers is clearly observed in the institutional premises.

BEACH CLEAN-UP DRIVE

School of Allied Health Sciences, Vinayaka Mission's Puducherry Campus, NSS on the occasion of SWACHATA HI SEVA organized the Beach clean-up Drive at Pudukuppam beach, Kannikovil, Puducherry. SCHOOL OF ALLIED HEALTH SCIENCES VMRF-DU Vinayaka Mission's PUDUCHERRY CAMPUS in collaboration with Bahour Commune, PUDUCHERRY jointly organized the Beach clean-up Drive in the Pudukuppam Beach, Kannikovil, Puducherry on 02.10.2024.Our 30 NSS volunteers had actively participated in Beach Clean Up the process of cleaning and collecting plastic bottles, wastage and bags from Pudukuppam Beach. Prof.S.AndrewJohn Silvester sir felicitated Bahour commune in charge. Nearly 150Kg of trash was collected from the beach clean up and submitted to the Bahour commune Municipality. Mr.Govarathanavishnu SAHS NSS Programme Officer and Mr.M.G.Kirankumar NSS FACULTY MEMBER and other faculties coordinated and guided our students in the programme.


Our Power, Our Planet

The School of Allied Health Sciences (SAHS) Environmental Science Students Club, Puducherry campus, onganized an event themed "Our Power, Our Planet" on April 30, 2025, at the SAHS Auditoriunm. The program included a panel discussion, inter-departmental quiz, and screening of the documentary film Our Planet."The event began with a Welcome Address by Ast. Prof. Saranya L.K. and a Keynote Address by Prof. S. Andrew John Silvester, Director of SAHS. The panel discussion, led by student representatives and faculty, focused on climate change, renewable energy, and environmental conservation. This was followed by a quiz competition to raise environmental awareness, and the screening of "Our Planet," which showcased the beauty and vulnerability of nature. The event concluded with a prize distribution for quiz winners and appreciation certificates for panelists. Asst. Prof. Joel Martin. J delivered the Vote of Thanks. The event was successfully coordinated by Mr. Arun Jayan. R and student volunteers, with over 150 students participating actively.


Trash to Treasure (Recycling Expo) & Guest Lecture

School of Allied Health Sciences, Vinayaka Mission's Puducherry Campus, EVS Club in association with NSS hosted a Trash to Treasure (Recycling Expo) & Guest Lecture on the occasion of NATIONAL RECYCLING DAY on 15/11/2024 at SAHS Auditorium,Puducherry. Dr. S. Nithya, Assistant Professor and Faculty Advisor of EVS club delivered the Welcome address. Followed by felicitation of Chief Guest Mr. Kalaimaani Umapathy. V., BFA,MFA , Puducherry by Prof. Mr. Andrew John Silvester, Director, School of Allied Health Sciences, Vinayaka Missions Puducherry Campus. Our 15 students had actively participated in Recycling Expo made of old and recycled products. The Chief Guest Mr. Kalaimaani Umapathy. V., BFA,MFA , gave an awareness lecture on " From Waste to Wow: Transforming Trash into Treasures". Best three models were awarded with prizes by the chiefguest. The vote of thanks was presented by Mr.Joel Martin, Assistant Professor, EVS Club Faculty member. More than 200 students and 15 staffs were benefited from the awareness lecture. The programme was well coordinated by faculty members of EVS club and students of EVS club. Mr.Govarathanavishnu SAHS NSS Programme Officer, coordinated and guided our students in the programme.


A Tribute to Nature's Tiny Messengers

The School of Allied Health Sciences (SAHS) The Environmcntal Seience Students Club of SAHS onganized a World Sparrow Day event on the theme "A Tribute to Nature's Tiny Messengers" at SAHS, Puduchery. on April 2., 2025, at 10:00 AM. The event highlighted the vital role of sparrows in our ccosystem and the importance of their conservation. The program began with a Keynote Address by Prof. S. Andrew John Silvester, Director, SAHS, followed by the felicitation of the chicf guests. A guest lecture was delivered by Mr. Arun, a dedicated social activist, in an open-air arena, providing a natural and refreshing setting in hanony with the theme of environmental conservation. His insightful session emphasized the ecological significance of sparrows, the threats they face, and practical methods for installing sparrow houses to support their survival. A key highlight was Mr. Arun's generous contribution of birdhouses. promoting direct action for sparrow conservation. Further enriching the event, students of the EVS Club, SAHS, showcased their creativity through a model illustrating the life cycle of sparTOWS and informative posters to raise awareness about their conservation. Their efforts made the program both educational and engaging. The event was successfully coordinated by the Environmental Science Students Club with the support of student volunteers. The program coordinated by the SAHS Environmental Science Students Club faculty Mr. Arun Jayan. R, L.K. Saranya and student volunteers. More than 50 students actively participated in the event, making it a success.

The School of Allied Health Sciences ,Vinayaka Mission's Research Foundation-DU, Vinayaka Missions Puducherry Campus NSS and SAHS Youth Club in colloboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), Puducherry jointly organized Swachhata Pakhwada- Clean up Campaign in SAHS Campus, Puducherry. About 20 kg of garbage was collected during the drive. Nearly 40 students actively participated in the clean up drive.
