The International Day of the Girl Child, observed every year on October 11, aims to highlight and address the needs and challenges girls face while promoting girls’ empowerment and the fulfillment of their human rights. This year’s theme was “The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead: Girls on the Frontline of Crisis.”
The program followed by the Welcome Address delivered and Felicitation were delivered by Prof. S. Andrew John Silvester, Director, School of Allied Health Sciences, Vinayaka Mission’s Puducherry Campus, who emphasized the importance of empowering young women to become leaders of tomorrow.
The Awareness Session under the theme “The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead: Girls on the Frontline of Crisis” was delivered by distinguished speakers:
Ms. Raja Kumari, B.A., LL.M (NHAI) – who spoke on “Empowering Youth Through Legal Awareness.”
Ms. Shanmugasathia, Sub-Inspector of Police – who addressed the topic “The Role of Women in Building a Safe Society.”
Dr. Rose K., M.Sc (N)., Ph.D (N), Nursing Superintendent – who delivered an inspiring talk on “Compassion, Care, and Confidence – The Heart of Every Woman.”
Following the Awareness Program an Expo was conducted for students under the theme “Empowered Women,
Empowering the World,” showcasing creative models and posters reflecting women’s strength and leadership.
expressing gratitude to the dignitaries, guests, faculty members, and student participants.
Nearly 200 students actively participated in the event, and prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions.
The event concluded with a renewed commitment to promote equality, education, and empowerment for every girl child—reminding all that “When girls are empowered, communities thrive, and nations progress.”
